New Beginner Course by Natasha Meleshkevish
Date: Monday through Sunday Time: See the current Schedule Location: Bookvar Russian Language School Duration: 2-6 hours per week Materials required: · Textbook: Farmer, Rachel. Beginner’s Russian. 2002 · Russian-English, English-Russian dictionary · 2 notebooks (70 page, spiral) Lots of enthusiasm
Course Objectives: To enable students to maintain basic conversation in Russian, To ensure that the students are able to distinguish cursive alphabets letters from the printed ones, To introduce basic concepts in Russian such as colors, days of the week, months, numerals, etc. To promote students interest in reading authentic literary texts small in scope To develop further students’ appreciation and understanding of a different culture N.B. At the end of each class there will be some time allocated for parents whose children attend Russian school in order to help them relate to the level of their children’s language learning and to assist them better for maximal results.
Methods of Teaching· Small group work · Lectures · Modelling · Articulation surf · Incorporation of multiple intelligence (TPR, etc.) · Weekly journals ( requires one notebook) Course dictionary (requires a separate notebook with each page divided into three columns: 1)word entry in Russian, 2)transcription and 3) translation into English).
